How hospice works in this home

Hospice is a medical benefit and a visiting team—nursing, aides, social work, chaplaincy as the family wishes. We are the 24-hour household around that team: turning, mouth care, a quiet room, a family member who can sit overnight in a chair that is actually comfortable.

We do not replace hospice. We host it well. Pain, anxiety, and breathing changes are reported quickly. The house stays small enough that a change in the night is noticed.

For residents already living here—and for late moves

Many people receive hospice after they already live with us. Others come in the last weeks because home is no longer safe and a large facility feels wrong. Late moves are possible when we have a room and hospice is already involved or about to be. Honesty about timing matters; we will not promise what a six-person house cannot hold.

Questions families ask

Can someone on hospice live in your Renton home?
Yes. We regularly coordinate with hospice agencies. The person must still be appropriate for adult family home care, with hospice providing the specialized medical visits.
Do you provide hospice nursing yourselves?
Hospice nursing comes from the licensed hospice agency the family chooses. Our staff provide the around-the-clock residential care and comfort in between visits.
Is this a nursing home?
No. It is a licensed adult family home. Skilled nursing facilities are a different license and a different scale. Hospice can work in either setting; the atmosphere is not the same.
