Respite care is a short stay with full support—so a spouse can recover, a daughter can travel, or a person can leave the hospital without going straight back to an empty house. In Renton, we offer those stays inside the same six-person adult family home that is home for long-term residents.

When families use respite

Typical reasons: a family caregiver has surgery, a vacation that can no longer be postponed, or exhaustion that has become unsafe. Others need a bridge after Valley Medical Center or a Seattle hospital discharge—someone to manage medications, meals, and nights for a defined stretch.

Because the house is small, a short-stay guest is not lost on a huge floor. They sit at the same table. Staff learn their preferences in a day, not a week.

What a short stay includes

The same 24-hour care, meals, and medication support from RN Delegated care staff as a long-term resident, for as long as we have an open room and the care needs fit. Duration is flexible: a weekend is rarely enough; two to four weeks is common; some stays convert to a long-term place if the family and the house agree.

Planning respite before a crisis

Call before you are desperate. Rooms are limited by design. A planned respite week is kinder than an emergency placement at 9 p.m. We will tell you honestly if timing or acuity is not a match.
